Cold and small beats warm and large. That is the whole trick of the first evening.

Method

Make it before you leave for the procedure and leave it in the fridge.
Grate the ginger fine — hour six is not when you want to be grating anything.
Sip cold and slowly. Small sips beat a full glass when you are nauseated.
Keep the jug within reach so nobody has to be asked.
